  • Strategy - Many media outlets are reporting on this Politico story from yesterday morning. It covers the way that prominent Democratic strategists, armed with the otherwise obvious knowledge that Rush Limbaugh is widely detested, waited in a patient crouch for Limbaugh to say something alienating and then pounced when he announced his hope for the Obama administration’s failure. The whole scheme is a bit of a no-brainer, but it gives a person confidence in the administration’s capacity to do something right.
If you’re curious to know who takes Limbaugh seriously, you might view the 12th slide of this PowerPoint presentation reporting the results of CPAC’s straw poll. [Note: These people are cuh-ray-zee!]
  • Movie - As of midnight tonight, Watchmen will officially be in theaters. I offer this reminder to incite your anticipatory glee; my copy of the graphic novel won’t arrive until tomorrow.
  • Twitter - If you have an internet-centric sense of time, then you probably think that Twitter is old news. Since a number of congresspeople were caught tweeting during Obama’s address to them, however, the service has come into the collective eye of mass media. Somehow, reports on Twitter rarely mention the site’s lack of either a practical application or a business model.
  • Skittles - Skittles recently implemented a new website design that’s garnered notice and analysis from the circle of nerds who do such things professionally. Basically, Skittles now uses its own site as a window onto its social media entries. I’m sure this strategy has tracking implications that elude my puny brain, but, still, it seems like an awful lot of effort for little effect beyond the buzz.
